Omega Scotland: Halfway Point Report

From Lily:
Life has been crazy for sure. Anna and I have had a busy 3 weeks. We have been preparing for the Holiday Club at Lambhill. This has consisted of us painting quite a bit. We also spend time serving at different clubs throughout the week.
On Wednesdays, we help out with Springburn church for their community meal and Bible study. This week, we have had the opportunity to share the gospel with a girl who was helping us paint.
Overall, the culture shift has been hard, but we have gotten to travel on the weekends and sightsee, which is awesome. Prayer requests really include that we have a good turn out for Holiday Club. That we can plant seeds in Emma’s life. Also, I can get over exhaustion and homesickness.
From Abi:

These first weeks have been full of learning, challenges, and countless reminders of the Lord’s faithfulness even when I don’t understand what He is doing. I’m serving in Govan, a community where there is no established church and where sharing the gospel looks very different from what I’ve experienced in Mexico or the United States. Many people have little interest in God, and the area struggles with poverty, loneliness, and mental health issues. Even so, the Lord has been teaching me to depend completely on Him and to see that ministry here begins by building genuine relationships through community events, growth groups, and everyday conversations that point people to Christ.

These weeks have also been a season of deep personal growth as I’ve spent time studying God’s Word and reading books that have strengthened my faith. Thank you so much for your prayers, they truly mean a lot. Please continue praying for spiritual strength, discernment, opportunities to share the gospel, for the people I’ve met here (that I can be a good encouragement to them) and for the Lord’s protection as I continue serving.

From Anna:
I have been enjoying my time here and Scotland! I am so thankful for what the Lord has been doing and the ways we have gotten to serve Him here! I have had the privilege of playing piano for the Lambhill church here in Scotland, which has been great but has also stretched me. The Lord has definitely been stretching me in areas where I feel uncomfortable volunteering, like helping lead worship and dances for the kids’ clubs here. This past week Lily and I helped the church with different community events, including hosting a Ceilidh, which is a traditional Scottish dance, to celebrate the work of a friend from a church in Canada who said yes to the call to come and help the Lambhill church.
Lily and I also got the opportunity to share the gospel with a girl this week and hope to continue having conversations. Please pray for this young girl, that she would continue to be open to hearing from us but that her heart would be softened to the gospel as she is currently willing to listen but not willing to accept. We hope the Lord continues to give us opportunities to share with people so please pray for gospel conversation opportunities.
You can also pray that I would continue to have a heart softened for the people here. Another way is that I would be ready and bold enough to share the Gospel at any point. Pray for endurance as we finish out the last half of our time here! Thank you so much for your prayers and support up to this point!
