Omega Scotland Team – Update #1
This week, we, the Scotland team, have been training through lectures on global engagement, globalization, and how to take the gospel to the nations. We have had guest speakers, including Pastor Chad Hunsburger, Jerry Welch, Kylie Ham, and many others from other organizations. These organizations talked to us about their efforts on the field and their definition of making Christ’s name known among the nations. This exposed us to different types of global engagement efforts around the world and to their passion for the nations.

Over and over again, we discussed God’s heart for the nations from Genesis to Revelation and what that means for us as followers of Jesus Christ. Omega’s theme verse is Matthew 24:14, which says, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (ESV). As a team, we strive to obey Christ by making His name known among the nations.

We have also been serving the church of Colonial Heights, which has been serving and loving us well as we prepare to spend the summer serving overseas. Practical preparation has been another focus; we’ve learned how to handle money, emergencies, and travel information. This training prepares us for the more practical day-to-day aspects of being a fieldworker, which some forget is an important part of what we need to learn as we live in a different country. Another area of training we have received is in teamwork and team conflict, meaning we have been learning how to work together so we can resolve issues.

The Scotland team is specifically preparing to work with church-planting efforts and ministries in Scotland. As we spend the summer loving the people of Scotland, please pray for us as we deal with spiritual warfare. I believe the enemy hates what we are doing and would love to divide and discourage us, so pray that we would fight against temptation. Pray that we would have the boldness to speak with clear words. Pray that we would be obedient to Christ and sensitive to the Spirit. Pray for unity amongst our team and with our fieldworkers. Pray that doors would be opened and glory would be brought to our merciful God.

“Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 1:6-8, ESV) .
