Omega West Asia Team – Update #4

Familiar Faces

Our week was full of hard work and service, but it also included two fantastic additions to our team: special guest stars, Jerry and Gibson Welch! The father-son duo (related to Maggie of course) arrived late Tuesday night and flew out to visit the Scotland team early Saturday morning. While here, they joined us in our work and supported us as we pursue excellence and wisdom in all we do; they also bought us ice cream! We’re so grateful for their kindness to us and for Colonial Heights’s generosity in sending them our way. Please remember them in your prayers as they continue to travel; Dr. Welch might have lost his luggage when passing through France, and we would not like a repeat.

Before their arrival, we spent Tuesday teaching English and received the incredible news that we could begin incorporating Scripture into our language lessons. Praise the Lord! We are beyond overjoyed God allowed us to introduce His Word to these children for the very first time. We truly believe this is a result of intense, genuine intercession for the nations to know His love and glory, so we’d like to thank those of you who have been faithful in crying out on behalf of these people.

On Wednesday, we were able to prepare a home for incoming fieldworkers, praying over it and the local area as we desire to see the Lord move in ways only He can. With Thursday, came our simplified retelling of the Creation narrative, delivered by Isaac. We only covered half of the story, pausing at the end of the third day. When explaining that God formed the land and the plants simply by speaking, Isaac flipped over a piece of paper to show the kids a rudimentary sketch of a beach with some flowers and a tree. The crowd went wild. They gasped at the drastic change from endless water to thriving diversity. We hiked through the national botanical garden, and we couldn’t help but wonder why we don’t revel in God’s might with that level of enthusiasm.

Again, your prayers are powerful and highly welcomed; thank you for your faithfulness in reading these updates. Our Lord is alive and active in the hearts of these people, and we are eager to obey His Will.

We will fly home on Thursday, July 16. We will participate in some debriefing activities on July 17-18 before attending Colonial Heights BC on Sunday, July 19. At 12:30 – 2:00 pm, we will facilitate a Share & Tell over a pizza lunch. We hope you can come and hear about all that God has done in and through us this summer.
