Ladies, Fill Your Toolbelt!

A few weeks ago, on a Wednesday night, I walked into the MidWeek gathering at our church with a simple agenda. I needed to talk to Mrs. Carol.  Allow me to tell you about Mrs. Carol. Carol loves the Word; Carol looks to the Holy Spirit as her helper; and Carol is intentional to share the gospel with those she encounters.  She is one of the most deliberate women I have met in a very long time, and I needed her help.  I am planning to teach a four-week study for the women at my church focused on evangelism.  I went to Mrs. Carol seeking wisdom, and she definitely delivered.

I began by asking Carol why sharing the gospel doesn’t intimidate her, and her answer is one I will never forget.  Her face lit up and she said, “I have lots of tools in my toolbelt, and I ask the Holy Spirit to show me which one to use each time.”  Carol continued to explain that she has taken many evangelism classes that taught her how to share the gospel, and she has also made memorizing Scripture a priority.  She considers these her tools, so when the Lord puts her in a situation where she can share the gospel the Holy Spirit has more to work with.  You see, Carol has done her homework.  She knows that there isn’t just one way to share the gospel.  She never knows what the situation will be, but she always wants to be ready, so she has lots of tools.

So, I ask you: do you have enough tools in your toolbelt for the Holy Spirit to use when the Lord prompts you to share the gospel?

Let me encourage you to take time to fill your toolbelt with several evangelism tools.  Here are a few to get you started:

I know it can seem scary to share the gospel, but the Lord wants us to always be ready.  In 1 Peter 3:15, Peter writes to Christians, “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”  Peter knew these believers would suffer (v. 14) and needed to be ready at all times to talk about their faith in the Lord.

The same is true for you and me today.  There are people all around us who need to hear the gospel.  They are actually waiting to hear the truth.  Will you allow the Lord to use you for His kingdom work?  Pray, fill your toolbelt, and ask the Lord to lead you to someone who needs to hear His truth today!
